SILENT NIGHT, BLOODY NIGHT (1972)

Jeffrey Butler inherits a mansion in which his grandfather died in a fire in 1950 on Christmas Eve. The large mansion was also used as an insane asylum.  Twenty years later on Christmas Eve, lawyer John Carter arrives in town with his assistant and mistress Ingrid, having been appointed by Jeffrey to sell the house. While in town, Carter and his mistress opt to stay in the mansion. Little do they know that a deranged axe murderer is hiding in the house watching their every move, and threatening anyone who comes near the house. Who is this deranged murderer and why do the local townspeople act so strange?
